Hubbard Street Dance Chicago branched out of the Lou Conte Dance Studio at LaSalle and Hubbard Streets in the year of 1977. Barbara G. Cohen, whose continued efforts to add diverse, creative and successful approaches to Hubbard Street enhanced company’s visibility and performance, soon came on board as its first Executive Director. Conte continued to direct the company for long and eventful 23 years. Today, Hubbard Street has become the dance destination of Chicago, as it attracts legions of aspirants from the entire state. A bunch of renowned choreographer and trainers and hundreds of aspiring dancers – from beginners to professional dancers – vigorously trying to master a step can be seen at Hubbard Street.
