The Colburn School is a premier music, dance and drama school; welcoming students from different parts of the United States. The School was originally incorporated in the year of 1950 as a preparatory arm of the USC Thornton School of Music. In the month of May 2017, LA Opera Music Director James Conlon and Oboist Allan Vogel received Honorary Doctorates from Colburn School. Around March, it conducted Summer Workshops for young dancers to perform well in production of the All New George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. Conservatory of Music offers a Bachelor of Music degree, a Performance Diploma, an Artist’s Diploma, and a Professional Studies Certificate to students. Icing on the cake is that the Conservatory offers full scholarship, housing, and stipends to all of its students.
